Here at Truman State University, Fraternity and Sorority Life has been shown year-after-year to be one of the best ways to get involved on campus. Students who are interested in joining a fraternity or sorority at Truman have many options, and we encourage you to take the opportunity to research our active chapters in order to make a decision that is best for you. Additionally, prospective students can find more information about each organization here! Below is information on each council’s recruitment/intake process.
Panhellenic Formal Recruitment
Formal Recruitment is the time when you can have your questions answered and decide if joining a sorority is the right choice for you. Formal Recruitment is approximately a week-long experience, which only occurs in the fall semester. Many Panhellenic sororities are participating in Continuous Open Bidding during the spring semester. The cost of Panhellenic Recruitment is $5. If you are interested in joining a Panhellenic sorority, please reach out to each chapter’s liaison. More information can be found at each chapter’s social media, or you can go to the Panhellenic website found here. If you have any questions about the formal recruitment process, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The formal IFC recruitment period takes place towards the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. Formal Recruitment is approximately week long, and this year is February 5th – 10th. During the first few nights of Formal Recruitment, fraternities host open events for potential members to attend. Towards the end of the week, Formal Recruitment events become invite only.
IFC also allows for Open Recruitment. If a potential member is in their first semester at Truman, they cannot accept a bid via Open Recruitment until after the conclusion of Formal Recruitment. If you have any questions about the IFC recruitment process, email email@example.com, or visit the IFC website found here.
