Here at Truman State University, Fraternity and Sorority Life has been shown year-after-year to be one of the best ways to get involved on campus. Students who are interested in joining a fraternity or sorority at Truman have many options, and we encourage you to take the opportunity to research our active chapters in order to make a decision that is best for you. Panhellenic sign-ups can be found here, and Interfraternity Council can be found here.Students interested in joining an NPHC fraternity or sorority are encouraged to attend NPHC 101 and chapter-specific Informational Meetings. Potential Members are advised to directly contact the appropriate chapter president for more information. Below is information on each council’s recruitment/intake process.

 

Panhellenic Council (Panhel) Formal Recruitment

Formal Recruitment is the time when you can have your questions answered and decide if joining a sorority is the right choice for you. Formal Recruitment is approximately a week-long experience, which will occur September 5th – 10th, 2023. Registration opens June 1st and closes September 4th. Those interested can sign up here. Many Panhellenic sororities are participating in Continuous Open Bidding during the spring semester. The cost of Panhellenic Recruitment is $5. If you are interested in joining a Panhellenic sorority, please reach out to each chapter’s liaison. Interfraternity Council (IFC) Recruitment

The formal IFC recruitment period takes place towards the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. Formal Recruitment is approximately a week long, and this year is September 7th – 15th, 2023. Registration opens June 1st and closes September 7th. Those interested can sign up here. During the first few nights of Formal Recruitment, fraternities host open events for potential members to attend. Towards the end of the week, Formal Recruitment events become invite only.

IFC also allows for Open Recruitment. If a potential member is in their first semester at Truman, they cannot accept a bid via Open Recruitment until after the conclusion of Formal Recruitment. National Pan-Hellenic Council NPHC Intake
