What is Hazing Prevention Week?
National Hazing Prevention Week is an annual, week-long event held during the last week of September. It focuses on educating students and raising awareness about the dangers of hazing. Hosted by the Fraternity and Sorority Life Team, this event fosters a campus-wide conversation on creating a safe and supportive environment for all students.
The goals of Hazing Prevention Week are to:
- Raise awareness about what constitutes hazing
- Provide valuable resources on how to identify, prevent, and report hazing
- Encourage open dialogue and discussions about hazing and its harmful effects
- Promote the importance of respect, inclusion, and community in student organizations
- Empower students to take action and intervene when they witness or suspect hazing
- Highlight the role of campus leadership in fostering a culture of safety and accountability
